Logan and I made a list of things we want to do this spring & summer - some are simple
and some are a little more of a challenge. The conditions are that it doesn't count
unless we are both there and we have to take a picture when we do the activity.

#13 Go to the zoo & #4 Visit a state we've never been to

While on our vacation in Tennessee, we met our friends,
Elizabeth, Kate, & Braden, at the Knoxville Zoo and
had a great day looking at the animals and playing in
the zoo's new splash pad area.  After we left the zoo,
we headed up to Kentucky since Logan and I had never
been there... It was a very short trip to Kentucky but
we were there so it counts!  :)

#8 - Play in a river

While in Tennessee, we hiked to Abram's Falls at Cade's Cove.
It was a strenuous hike for us - lots of log bridges, roots, rocks,
ups, and downs BUT the falls were gorgeous & the water was
ice cold!  We even saw some baby black bears.

#17 - Make dinner together & #19 - Have a movie night at home

Logan and I are vacationing in Pigeon Forge, TN and we
decided to have a movie night in our cabin.  So, technically,
it's not a movie night at "home" but since we are vacationing
here, it's our "home" for the moment :)  To make
it better, we cooked dinner and ate it during the movie.
We made spaghetti and garlic bread and the movie
we watched was "Tooth Fairy 2"... the movie was
great & the food was even better!  Yum!

#10 - Get in a hot tub

Ahhh, rest & relaxation....

#15 - Spend the night in a cabin

A nice relaxing vacation in Pigeon Forge, TN!

#46 - Make ice cream sundaes

#38 - Go horseback riding

Logan started taking riding lessons this Summer so I am counting
this as "horseback riding" because she is doing this on a weekly
basis.  She is doing so well and I am so proud of her!

#32 - Go to a baseball game

Go Owls... too bad they lost!

#16 - Go swimming

Judy and David, our wonderful friends from church, have
opened their pool to us this summer and I couldn't be more
thankful... We had a great time today!

#31 - See fireworks

We decided to do our own fireworks this year instead of
fighting the crowd and going somewhere else to see them...
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get any good pictures of the
fireworks we did but I did get this one of Logan holding a
sparkler.  She was trying to be the Statue of Liberty :)

#30 - Have a cookout

To celebrate Independence Day, we had a cookout with
hamburgers and hotdogs... YUMMY!!!

#11 - Take a walk

We love to walk the trails at Biltmore.  Of all the times we have been,
this trail in particular is one that we had never walked before.

#3 - Ride in a boat

Is a kayak considered a boat?  Well, we say it is!  Kayaking on the
Biltmore Estate was awesome!  We loved it!  I think Logan and I
both want our own kayaks now :)

#1 - Go to the movies

Logan and I went to see "Brave" today at the Regal Biltmore
Stadium 15 at Biltmore Park.  This theater is one of our favorites.
My mom, Maw Maw "Holly", came along too.  It was a fun girl's day :)

#7 - Go bowling

Logan and I were the only ones at the bowling alley today!

#25 - Read a book together

I remember reading this book as a child and I think all
parents should read this book with their child(ren).  With the
way bullying is at school these days, this book has a very
good message in it that I think everyone, young and old,
should hear.  Love this book and I enjoyed reading it with Logan!

#9 - Spend the night in a tent

We were a little too scared to sleep out in the yard so we
set up the tent on the deck - 15 feet above the ground :)
We watched a movie and decided to turn in at midnight.
It was very warm in the tent so we unzipped the windows.
This morning we were a little damp from the dew but overall,
it was a good night and definitely something we will do again!

(We took these pictures when we woke up this morning)

#47 - Play hide-and-go-seek

I found you!

#14 - Go to a museum

We decided to visit the Schiele Museum of Natural History
in Gastonia, NC today. We had a lot of fun looking at all the
animals, rocks, bones, and other exhibits.  While there, we also
went into the planetarium and saw a 30 minute show about the
earth, moon, and sun.  The best thing about this museum was that
it was super cheap.  The worst part about it was that there
were 15 school buses there and kids were everywhere!
It was quite crowded but we still managed to have a good time.

#28 - Play with chalk

This is something we can only do early in the morning or
late in the evening because the sun will bake you on the
driveway so... we got out there early this morning and began
to doodle.  Why is drawing with chalk so fun?  It seems to
be something that is always so fun but we seldom do it.

#47 - Play mini golf

What Summer is complete without a good game of mini golf?
We decided to go to Challenger 3 in Shelby, NC.  I love that
place but there is very little shade there and with the sun as
hot as it was today, we were sweating bullets!
Logan and I both got a score of 56 which we thought
was really weird!  We have never tied before!

#29 - Play frisbee

Logan and I do a lot of things together but playing frisbee has not been
one of those things.  To be honest, I am not sure if I have ever bought a
frisbee (as an adult) until the other day when I bought this one... it was
only $2.00!!!  I am glad we put this on our list of things to do because
we had a good time and got a few good laughs while playing.

#33 - Tie dye something

This we will do at least another time this Summer... Tie dye is my favorite!

#49 - Feed the ducks

It's amazing how the pond at the college has been overthrown
by geese!  There are only a handful of ducks there now.
We haven't been to feed them in a while so this was fun and I
think the ducks and geese enjoyed it too.  There were a few
ducklings that were so cute and Logan made sure that they
got plenty to eat.

#42 - Go out for breakfast

Pancakes... YUM!!!

#5 - Put a puzzle together (take 2)

So we decided to try the puzzle thing again and this time, we made sure to
get a puzzle that we knew wouldn't be impossible! This one was a lot of fun!

#5 - Put a puzzle together

Let me just say that before you buy a puzzle that says that it is
"ANIMOTION", rethink your purchase!  We were super excited
about this puzzle because it is holographic so the picture "moves"...
something to consider - as you put the puzzle together, the color changes
on each piece and we had NO IDEA what pieces to put where!  Needless
to say, we both had a headache after messing with this crazy puzzle for
over 2 hours.  This picture shows where we stopped.  I am not sure if we
will finish it but we did have a few good laughs "trying" to put it together!

#26 - Go to the library

This is one of Logan's favorite things to do!  We only do this during
the Summer because she has to read books from her school all year
long and there isn't much time for pleasure reading.  It was very rainy
yesterday so we spent a good bit of time here... we will be back!

Friday, June 1, 2012
